Kerala Floods

The chief minister of Kerala described the flooding as the worst in 100 years.

35 dams have opened since the water level has risen close to overflow level due to heavy rainfall leading to flooding in low-lying areas. More than one million people have been displaced and nearly 400 people have died.

According to the Kerala government, one-sixth of the total population of Kerala have been directly affected by the floods and related incidents. The preliminary report from the Kerala government on the total loss occurred in the floods has been approximated at Indian rupees 19,512 core.
